Recommended Equipment

While we plan to offer turn-key kits for beginning meditators, the logistical planning has yet to materialize for those products. Instead, I offer my suggestions for you with links to the sites where you can purchase them. It would be fantastic to aggregate them all, and we will eventually, but for now, peruse our list of suggestions and purchase them if they appear to fit your needs.

Remember, all you really need is a wool blanket, soft cushion, and mala beads, but it is nice to have actual meditation equipment if you are determined to travel down this path. Click on the pictures to go to the vendor's website.

Meditation Seating

GABUR Foldable Meditation Cushion, 100% Kapok, Red Elephants, 25.5"x19.5"

I use this myself after switching from my Zabuton/Zafu set. This is a more economical use of space and easily transported if you are on the go. It is very comfortable once you break it in (a couple weeks). Two thumbs up!

GABUR Meditation Seat
Zafu/Zabuton Set

Dharma Crafts Meditation Zafu/Zabuton Sets

I used one of their sets for my first ten years meditating. They are excellent quality and have an amazing assortment of styles and colors. You will not be disappointed with any of their sets. No, I do not get any kickbacks! You can usually get up to 15% off your first order.

CangLong Wooden Padded Folding Chairs 2 Pack

I have not used these chairs, but thought they look comfortable for those who may need a chair for meditation. There is no shame if mobility prevents you from sitting on cushions on the floor. These could be used for anything, and if you placed a pillow behind your back, it would provide more padding and comfort.

Wool Blankets

Wool blanket

100% Wool Blanket, 48" x 62", Warm, Thick, Washable

This is the one I use because the smaller size works great underneath my Gabur meditation seat. We need these to prevent grounding our energy when we meditate. This one is very nice and washes great. I figure the straps could carry both my seat and blanket together. Two thumbs up!

Pendleton Wool Blanket

I have one of these and they are amazing. We used ours when camping for additional warmth over our sleeping bags. They are beautiful, durable, and come in so many styles. They can be expensive, but worth the price. Mine appears in the Introduction to Meditation video on the Youtube channel.

Mala Beads

Knotted Sandalwood Mala Beads

Hand Knotted Sandalwood Mala

These were my first 108 string of Mala beads because I love the smell of Sandalwood. They are easy to count with, relatively inexpensive, and smell nice. It has a guru bead from where you can start and end your counts. The individual knots between the beads help with counting. The Dharma Shop usually has 15-20% off first orders so take advantage of that. Two thumbs up!

Anxiety-Relieving Lotus Seed Mala

These are not the exact ones I bought, but I did buy mine from the Dharma Shop. The Lotus seeds have a unique look to them and feel great in the hands. They are no knots between the seeds, so it makes counting slightly more difficult. However, I love mine and highly recommend them. Keep in mind, there are many different Mala Beads to choose from, so select one which appeals to you!

Miscellaneous Supplies

The Kriya Serpent Yogi

My book will eventually be available on this website, but for now it can be purchased on Amazon and other book retailers. I have provided the link to the Amazon book page since it has Kindle versions which is how I read most if not all my books. This is a critical reference for anyone traveling the path of a Kriya Serpent Yogi and is a necessary addition to the online classes and on-demand courses. A quick and wonderful read!

Asian Coffee Table

Furinno Andrey Coffee Table with Bin Drawer

This is the one I use and featured in my videos. I love this because it is the perfect height and size for my meditation space. It is large enough to hold all your spiritual paraphernalia on top and within the drawers. It is not expensive and comes in a variety of color schemes. Two thumbs up!

COOFANDY Men's Linen Harem Capri Pants Casual Lightweight Drawstring Yoga Pants

Okay, ladies, I apologize for only presenting men's shorts, but I have learned over the years from partners, sisters, and daughters that women's clothing is very personal and best left to the woman. However, guys, these are absolutely amazing for meditation! I have several pairs I use every day. They come in a lot of colors for a great price for the quality. Two thumbs up!

CooFandy Baggy Shorts
Zen incense

Shoyeido Zen 2 Hour Incense 3 Bundle Assortment - Sitting, Morning, Evening

I have used these for many years, and they smell fantastic. They do not produce an acrid smoke which can choke and irritate during meditation. These are very pleasant and set the proper mood. They are long enough to break in half for your daily meditation, doubling the number you have to 180 total. That is six months of daily incense. Even the leftover ash smells great. Two thumbs up!

Cherry Blossom Incense Bowl

I prefer the bowls with sand in them over other incense holders. I have a green Om bowl for my daily meditation, but I use this Cherry Blossom bowl for my classes. It works great, and I can put in whatever color sand I want to match the motif.

Macks foam earplugs

Soft Foam Earplugs

This could be viewed as controversial in meditation circles, I am a big fan of using foam earplugs during my meditation. I simply have too many noises I must contend with as a single parent with children, dogs, noisy appliances and neighborhood. Call it a hack, but they are so comfortable and cancel noises so well, it makes my meditation far better than without them. These are an enormous help in speeding up the Stillness of Mind process. They are inexpensive, so try them and make up your own mind.
